I like the drawing. I think theres 2 ways you can go with computer art, thats rough sketched and expressive. or amasingly detailed and precise. Doing both looks fabulous. I think it would look good if the flowers didn't respect the frame and continued outside of it. Graphically it's really nice and quite sensuous as well.
Your onto something doing drawings of yourself, bit like an ISM but alot more work smile

Hi ya,

Thanx for your comments, the flowers actually do go a little over the frame, i just cut that screenshot a little tight lol smile

Its only my third attempt when I do a good one I will post it for comparison smile

As to dive shops, i dont know where i would find one, diving isnt really common in London :s I think I might try with a disposable just to see what im doing before i consider anything bigger just in case Im rubbish at it lol!

Think i could set up a rivial site called i drewmyself.com? hehe

You can always combine the media - do an ISM folio where you have drawn images on yourself (or in Illustrator, then transferred onto your body...).

Actually tanning your body through a stencil might be nice in the summer.

You'll be OK but I think some people would have to go in the I drew myself badly section or even 'try and guess what it is' smile This isn't a self portrait of me. Well he's got my eyes and hair but I'm very grateful I haven't got his ears and nose smile Actually, he looks more like a troll. It would be good to animate him to do a beautiful agony! If you like him, you might get to see an I shot myself close up of his body smile If your lucky. Which part do you wanna see smile

Thats great that public smoking ban going through parliament because I'm not going to any informal social setting until it's smoke free. As part of the  the ongoing underwater photography saga I have thought of a way Of taking underwater shots using a clear plastic container. I'm going to try it out in the washing up bowl and post a pic if it works.

There is (or was) a camera shop in central London that specialises in cameras and camera equipment for shooting underwater or in wet conditions. Everything from pro equipment for scuba divers to waterproof housings for conventional cameras for sailors and surfers. It used to get a mention in 'Amateur Photographer' every time they discussed shooting in wet conditions. I'm afraid I can't remember the name of the company, but you should be able to find it in the Yellow Pages or the like.

Hi guys,

The tanning idea sounds kewl, or henna maybe?

The camera in a box idea makes it hard to take the pics.... If you know a good workaround let me know!!!

I will have a look for a camera shop listed in central but Im guessing the cost would be as high or more than the 150 for the pro case to waterproof my exisiting camera...

Cute pic blissed very elf like.

Id love to some mixed media pics but i dont think they would be accepted... The rules are taking photos of yourself and no post editing i think....

Kisses!

Hi,
Ive just joined ISM and I see there's a real community here and Id love to say Hi and get to know everyone.

Boring bio details about me:
Im a 23 year old student and part time amature model,

Other boring details in my page here: http://www.ishotmyself.com/public/view_ … o=velocity   smile

So if you wanna say hi leave me a post, any ideas on future 'folios I could do or which of my shots works the best would also be great, I want to make quirky original sets like my motorbike one rather than 'girl on bed nude' ones (not that they are bad I just like being different) if you have any ideas let me know!

I was suggesting something where you draw images using Illustrator, print them, then transfer them to your skin - possibly printing onto a plastic film where the ink doesn't dry. Not sure how well that would work. Kind of temporary tattoo effect.

Another idea might be to using a projector to project the images onto your skin, then photograph the result - that would not qualify as post-processing. Could be very interesting, depending on the images, and where you projected them.

Yeah, I just thought you could take a fully lit picture of yourself at home, load it into a projector, close a curtain slightly, then adopt the same pose and project the picture onto yourself. the 2 images will either be slightly or well out of phase and could look interesting. Certainly projecting images of yourself onto yourself would be good. I'm a genius! *exepts award* smile

Actually digital projectors cost over £500. Back to the drawing board. You could borrow one, or save the idea for 2008 when they'll be cheap.

Congrats are in order, A. I think you have set an new record for # of post to a introductory thread.  Here:  have some more virtual chocolate.

mmmm virtual chocolate....

Im coming around to the chocolate idea (from another post) instead of a water shoot... and bonus! I could eat any chocolate not melted onto myself... or get someone to help me get it all off again....

Oh dear u can guess I havent seen my girlie for a week cant u! haha.

I love the projector idea blissed but i dont have access to one, the play of light would be lovely and also  i could do kewl things like project video of the sea or something to make a girl made of water.....  What u think?

cynicism, the tattoo idea is nice, but very hard to do well, maybe I will think of a way to intergrate something like that later on when Im more advanced at all this.

My second folio should be live in less than a month now! (the fairy lights one) i cant wait to hear what you guys think of it, or if you think it even works at all!

Oh, Alisha, it is so difficult to concentrate on your writing with your picture there- (but please don't change it!)

I have been thinking about this water thing some more:

Your quote above suddenly made me think of garden "reflecting pools" which, as slightly rippled by wind or fish, send moving waves of light into a window or upon a nearby wall- I wonder if even just a cookie tray or large plastic tub (or the lid off one, it doesn't need to be deep) with a gentle fan blowing across it and a flood light pointing on the water, bouncing the light onto you (I'm starting to lose it here, imagining the scene...) um- reflecting something I think I was saying - or on the room, wall, bed... (no no can't go there...)

another idea re the underwater deal discussed some time ago-  don't they make those cheap disposable cameras for snorkeling holidays, that use regular print film?  the last time I went in with some 35 mm print film to be developed, they gave me a CD of it for another buck or so....   i.e., you could use the cheap U/W film camera, and have the digital disc to submit.   Lighting might be tricky...

I'm not even going to speculate on the chocolate  ;b)          Mz

That's a great idea, projecting bubbles would be nice.

mzungu wrote:

That is nice the way sunlight plays on water and then reflects back on to your skin. Really easy thing to do in a brook in Oz,  but could still be done here in august. How did your art projects go. the typeface and the other thing about beauty. I've been up all last night redesigning my website, I started fiddling around and as usual got hooked into it and spent all night on it. I love doing it. I wouldn't get so carried away otherwise. I like the chocolate idea, you could use chocolate spread. you wouldn't have to melt it then. Chocolate and hazelnuts nice. I'm glad you like the projector idea too actually but it is expensive. that's generally how my ideas are. I get some great ideas usually for  making money but you need a million pounds just to get them started smile  Actually though come to think of it, what are banks for. Anyway, be really nice to see your upcoming folio.

Re: Im new here can you show me around? ;)

hi ya,

Hey blissed bubbles would be so beautiful, i might have to see if i can borrow a projector from college... but without a car it might be awkward getting it home anyone wanna give me a lift? lol.

Chocolate sauce for ice cream (and maybe some ice cream as well) might work well... hmm ice cream...

I dont think Ive seen your website blissed hand over the URL immediately! smile

My course is going ok, Im a bit behind on the typography bit, am doing a simpler idea as noone else is doing anything half as ambitious as I was thinking and the whole everyday objects bit has been removed from essential criteria now anyway... its been made into a sub project about viewing a ordinary object in different immaginary ways instead as aparently we dont have enough drawing work in the set projects .... its very well organised where I go lol! *hits head on wall*

Hi, mzungu (how do i say that?) thanks for the compliments and the rippling water idea is really nice but I think the lack of natural light here would spoil it and inside light would not match the natural beauty of rippling water, will store it in my metal ideas file for summer though!

I already had a look at disposable 35mm underwater cameras, i was thinking take underwater shots with one and over water shots with my normal camera to ensure i have enough pics of a high quality and good variety of angles (the underwater will be hit and miss due to being underwater which I havent done before and also as the disposable camera will be fixed focus and shutter speed they might blur)

But all this is speculation as I cant submit another shoot until my fairylights one goes up! I think admin are getting peeved with me asking when I can do another shoot lol!

Alisha, it's easy really, but all of us native-English speakers seem to have trouble with it at first-  just pretend you have some chocolate, maybe spread on Roxxi...    mmmmmmmmmm  (now that was easy!!)  then just say "Zurich," or "Zulu" and you have the idea-  mmm-zungu   it sounds a bit like, "mmm-zoon-goo"    Usually people try to put a vowel after the m, Ma-zungu.   ( It's Swahili- )

So bitter-sweet... I am so looking forward to your new folio, but I'm leaving for 3 weeks in the morning, and won't be able to access it until my return  sad

Keep up the good work, good luck with your project, and while of course you are correct in that no amount of gimmickry can match natural light & water, when I get back I am going to experiment with my tub-fan-light idea just to see what happens.  If it works, I want to see you try it!    wink

Sorry Mzungu I always prefer to ask pronounciation to be on the safe side, and avoid looking silly later on!

I will therefore practice your most ingenious method to learn how to say it at least ten times a day....

Theres a sneak peek just gone up in the forum with one of my pics (and a lovely complement from our ISM admin!) to give u a peek at my reload and those a few other very hot hotties for when you get back smile

Le tme know if u get the tub fan idea going and if its good enough I will try it out myself too!

Im sure your sites great Blissed, but if u want a second opinion on anything u can always email me some screenshots, Ive done quite a few websites including my www.alishax.com one and would be happy to offer any help I can. It's the least I can do considering how many cool ideas you been helping me with... I'm still leaning towards the chocolate idea right now (partly because everyone keeps mentioning the stuff or its spreading one people.... lol) but who knows what I will do next, I'm a spontanious kinda girl smile

That's a good bit of luck smile Do you know what a photo printed onto acitate from your printer and placed on the projector, looks like projected. Do you know if it's strong and detailed, or sort of washy.

Congrats A-X.  For a first post,  you are nearing 70 replies.  You must be one popular gal  ;-}

When you talk about a projector and acetates,  I assume you are talking about an overhead projector (like the one used in classrooms).  Bear in mind that these were the light shows for early rock & roll.  They will transmit anything of color (except my personality).  A glass bowl with water and food dye intermixed with vegatable oil (also dyed) will produce the "Gratefull Dead" effect.  If you have a helper,  they can dip the bottom of another glass bowl into the above mixture and create streaks etc.  You could do your own '60s acid dance.
