The management of this site see fit to edit our messages posted on the portfolios to suit their own taste. I posted a message telling the girl how beautiful she was, but added the work of art, which was her body, would be more appealing without all the ink. That was my opinion and in no way did I 'not conform to the site's values.' The management or admin of this site decided to not only edit out he ink part of my message, but also remove several other messages from other members who said anything about this girl's tattoos. One message simply stated the ink was distracting. Guess what? It's not there now. Not a single person said she was ugly or fat, etc... If the woman is brave enough to post her naked body on the internet, she should be brave enough to handle any feedback abhout how distracting all of her many tattoos are. But maybe it lies more with that fact that if a girl reads a message from someone who thinks all of her ink is distracting, maybe she won't pose again and the site will lose a 'reload' or another portfolio and have to find another girl to pose for the poor amount of money I'm sure they pay. I guess my point is, if you're going to touch my words and make them super appealing for your needs, then remove the entire post. I agree posts shouldn't include anything degrading or mean, BUT.... THIS SITE DOES NOT HAVE THE RIGHT THE MANIPULATE MY WORDS FOR THEIR OWN PURPOSES. Either remove the entire post, or don't touch it at all!

Yeah this issue has been covered alot. It's not about making the comments "more appealing", we just don't think its appropriate to tell a girl to change her appearance to suit your tastes.
I also helpfully fix up your spelling mistakes sometimes. as distracting as 'breats' are, I didn't notice any in that folio you just commented on.

I never once said she should change her appearance for for my tastes, I simply stated her tats distracted from her body. We're here to celebrate women's bodies, not a tattoo artist.
And since you're picking at a typo, maybe next time you'll pay a little more attention to your grammar - "I also helpfully fix up your spelling mistakes sometimes."

What's the grammatical nitpick here? A split infinitive?

But isn't the hang-up over split infinitives just a hangover of a fixation for rules derived from Latin?

Dmbhead, you sound angry and indignant- I can understand that, but I am doubtful that defensiveness and a quick escalation of hostilities in the nature of an "oh, yeah?" tit-for-tat is lilkely to help you get your message across. But I am sympathetic to your position.
Without getting into the specifics of the issue (ie which artist, folio, which tattoo, which message, which words), I would like to contribute the following simple statements regarding expression on ISM:
Can we all agree that ISM has the right to define the standards for communication and expression on ISM?
But, that said, for a number of reasons, I don't think it is proper for ISM to edit comments and posts for grammer, spelling, or even for content without the knowledge and approval of the author.
If posts MUST be adulterated in place, perhaps some kind of tags could be placed there to indicate deletions ( for example "Your delightful photos made me ... a full box of kleenex.") or rewording (" you have a couple of really bodaceous [mammary glands] on you, not to mention a breathtaking, moist [backside]." At least we could all have fun guessing at the edits without anyone having their sensibility feathers ruffled
But seriously, whatever standards are to be applied to written submissions, I recommend a more elegent ISM editorial policy of either leaving them alone or removing them in their entirety. I think this would be more in alignment with Dmbhead's position, and I think most submitters who are most likely to have their words edited would prefer it.

The comments on the folios should all be positive. If you cant say something nice dont say anything at all. Its tough for some to do this and others are naturals. Some have never photographed themselves before let alone put them up for all to see.
If something bothers you this is the place to let it be known in the forums!!!! Not in the folio comments. Lots of the girls come here too.
Personally I love tattoos, the more the better.
"Please keep your comments appropriate to the values of the site."
That isnt too much to ask, is it? Besides if you have a look through the past topics on the forums you will see we love to discuss all kinds of likes and dislikes. And tons of other things.

The universe is unfolding as it should, and so are the girls on ISM. I love them all.

Again mikhaill, you are on top of your game! The education system is the US has taken on this very issue numerous times in the past without resolution. But we also have Bush for a president, so that isn't saying too much...
To everyone else who replied, I appreciate your points of view. I do want you all to know that I in no way said anything bad about the tattoos. I complimented her lovely body and stated the tats were a bit much for me. I wasn't saying she shouldn't have them, nor was I implying she should remove them, cover them, etc. How's that different from someone saying "you should show your pussy more..?" I myself have several tattoos that I love to show. My issue was with management, and I use that term loosely, manipulating my words as though they're playing GOD. I know very well I can take up any issue I have in this forum and for the most part, management of this site will let us rant here. The girl is a knockout and always will be, just as every single girl who works up the courage to pose nude on this site is. And mikhaill, it's late, my grammar stands as is tonight.

I'm not trying to be the d***HEAD I seem to be coming across as. I really feel that if management deems a post uncalled for, etc., it should be removed entirely. Could we vote on it? No no, that will never do. Bush will somehow steal that one too! Will all be better if I give the room cookies and milk?

oooh thats ok. I can understand it must be annoying to get your posts edited, but you shouldn't take it personally. I just try to think 'would i want to read this' if i was the girl in the folio. I would rather not delete the entire post if i can help it, because often the overall intent is positive - which is fantastic - just maybe a little carelessly worded, and member feedback is really important to both us and to the artists.
We really do appreciate your taking the time to express your admiration for the folio.

No, but the idea can certainly be expressed in non-lager-lout style. You might say you hope she will be more daring next time, or compliment another contributor on her generosity. There's surely an accepted range of euphemisms here, as in lonely-hearts ads, where we all know what terms like fun-loving mean.

But from all I read here it sounds like it's praise that's important, not feedback. Put-downs, insults, rudenss - they should all be deleted. Commenting on ink or metal (while praising the rest of the folio, no less) should not merit editing. OTOH, naturally the management has the complete right to edit whatever they wish. It just seems to me that their justification is weak

Me thinks I've been around far too long in this forum. I'm not sure whether this is the second or third time this subject has been discussed (disputed). I would not wish to make derogatory, or even pointedly suggestive, remarks about the efforts of any of the contributors. However, it is interesting to note that an influx of new members, or at least those who make the effort to join the rest of us in the forum, seem to (re)generate the material of three older threads. This is not said with any disrespect for the new members as they have some rights to their opinions but I feel that it is noteworthy that it occurs. Perhaps the lovely Shannon and the equally lovely Head should consider clarifying the ethos of the site and some providing examples of what is considered acceptable and what is not.
I am sure that there are some of the contributors who will just brush off any comments which they deem to be distastful but I am equally sure that those same comments could diminish the enthusiasm and pride felt by other contributors for having overcome their inhibitions, shot themselves and revealed their all to the semi-public eye.

I have seen that exact comment a couple of times in the last year I've been a member, which is why I mentioned it. I'm sure you guys stay on top of it and remove comments of the sort very quickly however. I will also say I haven't been in the forums since the clever product placement vids for the little hide your blow/detergent keychain thingy. I'm sure the exact reason I've missed a thread of this nature before. But since I broke my leg and ripped my knee apart over the Christmas holiday in a car accident, I have nothing to do but take meds, be cranky, and await a knee replacement in two weeks. Oh, I sleep a lot too!
