At Suicidegirls I actually manage a members group for self-confessed "sluts". It has a lot of members. (At least one current member is an ISM model, and one former member is also on ISM.)
I should add that as far as I know, those claims are correct, but I haven't checked the membership details in a while.
I'd also add that for the purposes of that group and its membership, "slut" is a gender-neutral term.

Slut is a socially loaded word and again depends on the context it is used in. Some see it as an insult some see it as a compliment. The book the ethical slut is a fabo book I love about embracing the fact that not all humans are monogomous and that slut is a good word that has been socially turned into a bad term. It calls for people embracing their sexuality.
As a person who is pretty sexually adventurous and in touch with their sexuality and not ashamed of it I still find that certain words I love if said by the wrong intent can turn it sour. I do agree that slut is a good term but here in Australia when you hear jocks use the word slut you can rest assured that it is an insult and is not gender neutral.
I once tried to reclaim the word "cunt" and use it in everyday sentences to show that a cunt is a good thing ie " I had such a beautiful day, what a cunt day" I was faced with bemused and offended looks. Fair enough. I do like being playful with societal situations and sometimes my weird idiosyncrancies are not met with open arms.
Its funny how genitals are used as insults ie "what a dick", " what a stupid cunt". Genitals are no more offensive to me than elbows, knees or hands. They are all part of the body.
I have been researching nudity and its interesting how the human race is the only real species that covers up its natural state ie being nude. Whats there to be ashamed of? Sure clothes are practicial but gosh I love walking around the house nude. Nude is good even if you dont have a so called " perfect body".

I love this sculpture because although she isn't anywhere near the idea of a perfect body, she has become pregnant, and you can't do that if your not a sexual person.

and this is the most ridiculous review of it I've seen. I try not to hate people like this but just to boycott their commercial ventures.

Agreed, very much.

Oh indeed. I'm sure it's not just here in Australia where that holds. In the context of what I'm talking about, reclaiming the word "slut" for oneself does not prevent others using it negatively.
I'm not around prudish uptight people very often but if I was and I heard someone use the word "slut" pejoratively, I'd ask them what they meant by it. I'm pretty good at politely making someone feel silly about their use of terminology or about them passing judgements on other people. But like I said, I'm not often around such people.
But it really boils down to the fact that I like the word, even though I don't always approve of how other people use it.
I once tried to reclaim the word "cunt" and use it in everyday sentences to show that a cunt is a good thing ie " I had such a beautiful day, what a cunt day" I was faced with bemused and offended looks.
My guess is that that is too counter-intuitive to make much sense to people. "Cunt" will always be a strong word, like slut (but even stronger, I suspect). The most I expect it can be reclaimed is the way some women I know have, which is to say things like "I love my cunt." Nice try and treating cunt as a synonym for beautiful, but I'm not surprised that it didn't fly

Oh this is a whole extra issue. Why are we so obsessed about covering up?
Here's my hunch. Another fairly unique thing about our species is that our sex drive is not nearly as cyclical as, well, almost all other species. We're (potentially) "on" almost all the time. For an animal that has mating cycles, a nude animal body is mostly irrelevant until the cycle hits, and then there's various things that signal mating readiness. Whereas humans, being "always ready" and (these days) much less focussed on the brute need to simply survive, have a lot of potential to spend lots of time being obsessed by the opposite sex. So we have a ocmparative need to find ways to suppress sexual urges.
Hence: we cover up.
I say all this in a non-judgemental fashion. If I'm right, it's simply an explanation for clothing beyond pure protection. Of course, this process of "sexual suppression" leads to other issues and problems that need analysis and understanding, including our species' tendency to be judgemental of sexually active specimens (calling them "sluts" for example), but that's my best attempt at a non-judgemental explanation.

I've often thought, instead of calling someone a lesbian, a stripper or a slut, it's much nicer to drop the noun. That way you have to say Their lesbian, they dance in clubs, they like sex. This makes you put the person first and what they do second, so their not classified and judged as if they are an object. I find this works with nearly every case including job titles and just seems to sit more comfortably.

What fascinates me is that there is no word in the 'official' english language for the sex act in the transitive sense, i.e. you can fornicate with someone, or have intercourse with them, but that's as close as it gets. So in society there is no polite way to say "I would like to fuck you" or for that matter "fuck me".
I agree. And "Fuck" is one of those I both love and hate depending on the context it is being used in.
I personally use this word very sparingly. But I do find it fascinating that this word can cause so much of a stir among humans in general. Very simply, this word can mean so many different things depending on another word placed beside it or additional letters added to it.
Fuck you.
Fuck it.
Fuck me.
I'm Fucked.
Fucked up.
Fucking Jerk.
Fucked in the head.
There are more, but you get my general drift. And almost every use of this word as listed above has little if anything to do with the act of making love. Most are expressions of disgust or hatred. Except for 'Fuck me' which is a double edged sword of sorts. It is sometimes used the same as if to say, 'Well, I'll be damned.' Conversely, it also expresses the wish to be made love to. And even more strictly speaking, and especially when combined with 'Oh God...' means 'Don't stop, I'm cumming.' or 'Damn, that feels good!'
Which brings me to the second part of my diatribe...
Come
Coming
Cum
Cumming
How these words have become a synonym for having an orgasm is beyond my knowledge. But they do seem so commonplace and normal in todays language, at least in a literary context. And in a comedic sense, they seem to fit the situation much better than the actual word they are a substitute for.
When have you ever heard:
Don't stop, I'm going to have an orgasm!
Oh God, I'm orgasming!
Yea, baby, orgasm for me!
Delightful little word, at least in a literary standpoint.
And finally, the word 'cunt.'
Although I am a male type person, although I wish my 'font' were a little larger, I don't like this word. I can honestly say that I have used this word maybe twice outloud. Both times it was directed at my ex-wife and even though she probably deserved it at the time and was acting in a manner that demanded it's usage, I still apologized for using it. This isn't to say that I haven't used it under my breath several thousand times. Mostly in traffic, I have to admit. But I am an equal opportunity user, ie: I use it on both male and female idiots. Which brings me to a question...
What to call the female sex organ? There does not seem to be any one word that befits it's lofty stature. And there have to be scores of words that are used to describe it...
Quim
pussy
mound
tunnel
sheath
cunt
clam
bearded clam
vulva
cheese factory (sorry ladies)
What is a gentleman to do? There doesn't seem to be a 'nice' term for it.
If you made it all the way to here, I commend you, as even I stopped paying attention about a minute ago.

Actually, I find that most people I know, boys and girls, find "pussy" a perfectly acceptable and inoffensive word. How that word came to be associated with the thing described, however, I haven't the faintest idea!

I agree, in the quagmire of negatively-loaded slang, that "pussy" seems to remain a very positive and endearing term.
Perhaps because it is soft and furry? (at least until this inexplicable -to me- urge to make it bare and stubbly has apparently overtaken so many folks )
Pussycat, or Pussy for short, as far as I know, is generally a term of affection, whether for a feline or hominid female...

"Quim" is a lovely term! And I quite like"pussy" -- it's what I use to describe mine. But what about:
Honey Pot
It's silly, yes, but very sweet. (Hahaha.)

There are plenty of polite(ish) euphemisms for suggesting sexual intercourse between oneself and another - if you find yourself in need.
For example, if you are feeling a tad lacking in subtlety you might ask "would you like to have sex with me?" - it's simple, direct, and unambiguous. It also leaves open the possibility of indulging in one or other variant of sexual activity.
There are slight less direct options, such as "let's get naked!" - although this doesn't state explicitly the intent to partake of sexual delights, there is a strong implication, especially when one is not near a nudist camp.
Another option is the simple: "shall we make love?". A potential sex-partner is unlikely to mistake such an invitation, unless they have been reading eighteenth century romances.
Suggestions such as: "I would like to feel your naked body next to mine" are a bit long-winded, a bit coy, and may arouse laughter more than lust (pity!).
However, I think I'd most favour a non-verbal approach - perhaps a waist-level hug from behind, followed by a kiss on the back of the neck, then the hands sliding in opposite directions to cup appropriate parts of the anatomy - the likelihood of such an approach being misunderstood is, er, minimal.

That's a new one on me. Is it an English term? On this side of the pond, we're very direct: we say "butt ugly".
Which is odd because most butts are pretty cute.
"Apple of my Eye", "bated breath", "brave new world", "caught red-handed" - all coined by Shakespeare.

There's also "fugly" which is short for fucking ugly. Personally, I don't like any use of the word. It seems to me everyone has beauty in some form or another. Sometimes you just have to look a little harder. ;o)

Can't say that I use any word to describe a person as ugly. I describe a lot of acts as ugly, and the occasional building, but I think the worst term I'd use for a person is "plain". Not because I'm aspiring to sainthood - I just find most people interesting in one way or another.
I have lots of words for attractive people though :-)

Hello Everyone. First of all, I believe this is my first post to the forums. I've been lurking and would like to join the party. I've enjoyed reading everyone's comments.
I'm 27, and several of my friends are younger, so I think we're all still somewhat coy about what we refer to out "private parts" as. A couple years ago I was dating an older woman and was happy that I could use the word "pussy" without offending her.
I don't like the word cunt, because I've almost never heard a woman use it. I tend not to use the word panties. When I think of panties, I also think of the soft flesh inside - it is, to me, a sexual word. I'm more likely to use the word underwear or knickers in a non-sexual setting. I know some women who use the word "vagina" to describe their pussy, but I prefer pussy, because I only think of the inner parts when I hear vagina. SCSIgirl's presentation of "flower" is close to perfect, and I expect I'll use it soon.
I think 2 Live Crew ruined the word "horny" for me. I still can't use it.
For describing my own parts, I usually use "dick." If I'm joking around or it seems appropiate to imply large-font action, I'll use "cock." Most of the women I know use the words "penis" or "cock".
I got a little lost in the details, but I wanted to point out that I think it's interesting, that the words my friends and lovers are using are changing with age and body-confort. I'm in the US, and I think all that takes a bit longer here (at least with my peer group). And now I'm contributer!

2 Live Crew's Hoochie Mama will make up for their blatant abuse of the word 'horny', I promise. Ride That Donkey, however, brings it right back.

10 points overslacked, your thoughst are entirely right because the vagina is ONLY the inner part, the vulva is the external genitals (inner lips, outer lips and clitoris, perineum and the mons pubis) Surely we all should have learnt this stuff in high school, if not then sex ed is readily available on the internet.

The one time I recall seeing the word "cunt" coming from a woman's mouth (apart from during sex) was in Chasing Amy, and it seemed wrong there. Indeed, in the director's commentary, Kevin Smith says that he wishes he'd had Joey Lauren Adams use a different word. I'm simply not comfortable with the word outside of sex.
I saw some vile suggestions further up this thread for labia - I far prefer to call them petals. (and it even lets you use the old joke: "Her lips were like petals... Bicycle petals!" Ahem. Moving on...) You can talk of "spreading your petals", even of "her clit peeking out from between her petals".
Strangely, I think "clitoris" is the only technical term I've seen in common use. OK, it gets shortened to "clit", but that's about it. I can't think of a common word for it. I've heard the very twee "little man in a boat", but that's as bad as calling it a pencil eraser. Maybe it's because we all respect the clitoris for what it can do - a (very) delicate touch and it can have the strongest woman wilting :-)

Oooh, what an invitation!
physically attractive women are: sexy, alluring, gorgeous, even, at a stretch, beautiful. Depending on the woman, she may be cute, sultry, a vixen, easy on the eyes, a vamp, or even a siren.
personality attractive women are: vivacious, enchanting, enticing, or sweet
physically attractive men are: masculine, strong, a hunk, even, if you are at a loss, handsome. Depending on the man, he may be macho, dapper, or even gorgeous (oh, yes!)
personality attractive men are: suave, sophisticated, debonair, charming
all kinds of attractive can described as having bedroom eyes, as a pleasure to meet/see/touch/hug/..., as desirable, as melt-in-the-mouth, as fascinating, even as distracting!
That's an off-the-cuff list - I can produce many more in a context - I find attractive people inspirational to such language.

With the exception of the mons pubis, which is less susceptible to stimulation (although one can produce some interesting results by running fingernails through hair if the lady in question is unshaved, or with a feather, if she is shaven), all the areas you've listed are more sensitive, more fun to play with, and heck, more available, than the vagina. But let us put those questions to one side (to play with later...)
Perhaps the reason for the prevalence of use of the word vagina as a sustitute for "female genitalia" is that it's the "socket" for the penis? Another male-centric view?

That's interesting.
If you trimmed then shaved a good growth of pubic hair several moths old, The newly bare mons might be happily stimulated by all sorts of things, the feather, lightly blowing, or warm breath.
