profile adjustments

i'm certainly not trying to make any waves here; i am incredibly curious about this and i'm sure someone here has to have some answers.  when my folio went up last week, my profile had some "additions" to it.  specifically, all of my "favorites" (book, film, music) were made up, as i left these fields blank because i suck at choosing favorites.  the name of the folio was changed as well, which i assume is because it sounded better to ism, which is fine with me.  i know that this has happened with at least one other model, and i'm curious as to why this is done.  i think there was enough information in the profile i wrote that you wouldn't need to add favorites in, but maybe that's just a standard thing: a model's profile always features "favorites."  also, i am curious as to how these are chosen...is there just a random list of possibilities that the staff chooses from, or do they choose things they think might be true for the model?  something that would give us clues about what the model is like?  i'm super curious about this, and whether any other models have had the same experience.

incidentally, has anyone read eunoia by christian bok?  i might take my own recommendation on that and check it out.

Re: profile adjustments

Ive never heard of profile info being changed before and while I'd like to think of it as some mix-up I suppose maybe it does happen and I would say its unfortunate but maybe something that is felt to be needed by the powers that be? While the sites mission is to present 'the artist by the artist' which is what draws most of us here maybe a small bit of embellishment is used to round things off. I dont see the need but neither am I a businessman...

Re: profile adjustments

I'm hoping it's a mix up. I think all the information in the profile should be from the artist/model. This site has to be horny, or it looses most of it's income, and that's best served by presenting you real, and not fake, whether you like Perry Como or line dancing, it's the real person we want to see.

Re: profile adjustments

I never had anything changed or added to my profile .. maybe it was a mistake or maybe not i dunno .. i think that you should write and ask directly .. i know you said that the reason you left those questions blank is because you suck at choseing favourites .. i find it hard as well, when i filled it in i just wrote down the last book i had read that i really loved ... so without having to call them favourites, what are some of the books and films you really like ?

We would have changed the folio name if it was the same or substantially similar to another, but we don't routinely change the bio answers and we don't expect every question to be answered.  We do sometimes omit an answer if it's embarrassingly the same as dozens of other girls, for example we ask "who would you least like to see shoot themselves" and probably 1 in 5 will nominate their country's leader.  It was kinda funny the first time.  I will look into this and see what has happened.

Re: profile adjustments

in response to pia's question and because i haven't been participating in the music post, i will attempt high fidelity-style top five lists for my current preferences in film, books, and music:

film:

1. rushmore
2. american beauty
3. i heart huckabees
4. anything python (holy grail holds a special place)
5. the big lebowski
6. bonus item: high fidelity, beyond the obligatory inclusion

books (this is REALLY hard, and i may have to choose writers instead)

1. a heartbreaking work of staggering genius by dave eggers
2. helene cixous (french feminist theory and lit crit)
3. david sedaris and michael chabon tie here
4. bell hooks
5. lolita by vladimir nabokov

music:

1. arto lindsay
2. super furry animals
3. regina spektor
4. the beatles
5. ben folds (sometimes five)

I certainly hope that there is no intentional editing of any of the contributor profiles, or anything associated with their views. To do so, with the exception of  any legal breach, would be to destroy the ethos of this site and I would be out of here PDQ.

I cannot see such a thing being done intentionally because, so far, the attitude of the staff has been to maintain accuracy and to support and protect the contributors.
