You have amazing taste in music. I have such an even bigger crush on you now!

Thanks! But I have to give all the credit to the wonderful music obsessed people in my life who lift me out of the muck. You have a crush on me?!?!?! That's a massive ego boost. I can't wait to see your duet with that guy in your other thread. Maybe we could do one...

Also, someone at the suicidegirls burlesque show did a striptease to "Glory Box".

Oh really, now that I would really like to see, is there a DVD I can buy?

I've heard a fair few Regina Spektor (she gained a little exposure with The Dresden Dolls being so popular) - she's ace, and of course, The Dresden Dolls (I saw them in concert in Melbourne last year, and they're utterly lovely).   I've heard some Magnetic Fields (you should also try The Decemberists/The Arcade Fire if you're a fan of NMH and Magnetic Fields), but not enough to form a good opinion. And I LOVE Sigur Ros - saw them in concert this year when they toured.  Blew. My. Mind.

I think we might need to swap mix CDs *S*

xxCattxx

I'm so jealous you gotta see 'em in concert (Sigor Ros, that is). I got to see the Dresden Dolls and that was awesome, but Sigor Ros was too expensive, even though they did come to my town.

And yes, mix CDs are ALWAYS a good idea!

I've got lots of friends to credit for my music taste too, I love sharing music with the people in my life. The newest boy has introduced me to about half of the new stuff I'm obsessed with!

And of course I have a crush on you! That would be a super-hot duet.

There's not a DVD of the current tour yet, but perhaps they'll put one out!

Oooh, and has anybody ever heard any of the following groups/people?:

Regina Spektor
Eddie From Ohio (this is unlikely, they are a tiny band)
Damien Rice
The Dresden Dolls
Kaki King
Magnetic Fields
Michael Merenda (again, VERY unlikely)
Nick Drake
Sigor Ros

I'm trying to find other people who know these groups!

Thanks for the list, (it's all on iTunes except Dresden dolls and Sigor Ros)
and Wow, 'River man' by Nick Drake is a fucking hit no doubt. I Like the sound of his voice but never been able to sample all his music before.

A like Kaki King . Be  nice to set it against some fast whisper light beats. My fav is Night after sidewalk.

And I like 'Sunshine' by  Regina Spektor too, her piano playing has a lot of the feel of Erik Satie  Gnossienne No. 5 (1880s) is his best tune.

like http://www.illwillpress.com/ too. and if your short of money, don't forget "everyone of your orifices is a potential gold mone" smile (Unmentionable auction)

Oh, I am SO glad you like Nick Drake. I love it when people discover him. My favorite of his is "Fly". Though it's hard to choose a favorite.

My favorite Kaki King is "Close Your Eyes and You Will Burst Into Flames".

And yeah, Foamy the Squirrel is amazing.

Re: Songs you're obsessed with

I just found a great resource for finding new music that I thought I'd share with everyone!

go to http://www.pandora.com/

You put in the name of an artist you like, and the website builds a radio station based on similar music. I thought this was the most wonderful thing I've found in a long time!
