Another nude project

Like ISM, the Nu project is a photographic project that features women of many shapes, races and ages relaxing in their homes. It's not as sexy as ISM, and the women don't direct their shoots or get paid for contributing but it still has some really beautiful images. I love the lightheartedness of the portraits and how they capture the models' personalities.

What do you think?

Re: Another nude project

It's definitely a nice  book concept and some of the photos are beautiful. I think the artists falls short of his mission statement of photographing normal woman as if they were fine art models - there's a whole lot of 'ordinary' here, and not a lot of fine art styling. That's ok - I love the 'ordinary/extraordinary' aesthetic - but certainly differs from his stated intention. There some criticism and discussion surround the lack of actual diversity represented in the photos.

I don't know. I don't feel strongly about it but something kind of bothers me here and I would like to put my finger on why. Maybe it's this massive culture of telling women they are beautiful to ease the hurt of decades of telling them they were ugly - except it's like the same thing. Now we're not beautiful enough, now we're all beautiful just the way we are - but we're still summed up by beauty or not. As long as we're ping-ponging between one and the other, will we ever get a chance to actually be people instead of just being judged on whether or not we look like people?

Re: Another nude project

Some of the pics are hot. I think hotness is an asset like a great singing voice, and there are lots of different kinds of hot like there are lots of different kinds of singing. The pics are good on a nudist level too, though I like clothes, I like the way clothes give us a the chance for self expression and creativity.

If I  interviewed Hillary Clinton as well as everything else I would ask her about fashion and the looks she likes. I would ask a male politician the same thing and if they have little interest in clothes or food, they miss out on a big part of life and being human.

So I think we should stop using the male mold as the standard that women should be like to be taken seriously as something to be equal too when that something is in many ways less than you are already. Why shouldn't a CEO have a shoe fettish and a million pairs at home. In society let's replace a very often negative judgement of how people look with an appreciation for discovering they're creativity and if they're creativity makes them look hot, that's lovely, and certainly if that's their intention it's nice to find out if they appreciate compliments.  End of rant ha ha smile
