Flying the flag?

Just back from my winter hols, so extra big ISM fix awaited me. I'm going for the award for most pedantic user comment. Why does LIBRE get saddled with the Portugese flag when she's from Spanish Latin America? Do I win a prize?

She calls herself portugese, and has portugese ID, though where she has spent most of her life I can't say.   The answer to your second question, is no!  But thanks for asking.

Brazil was a Portugese colony, and what stops a Portugese from living in Latino America anyway?  Is Brazil part of it?  Is Portugese a Romance language as well as Spanish?
