ARTISTS STATEMENT

If someone had said to me that I would be photographing myself for an art project, I would have said to them: "Never! Me?! In your dreams!". Me - the person who avoids photographs with the excuse that I will break the camera lens. Me - the person who avoids looking at myself in mirrors. Me - the person who failed art in both high school and at teachers college. So why do it? To prove to myself that I could - that I could take pictures, that I could be a bit artistic, that I did not look too bad naked. Most importantly, to try something new as life is short and I see it as important to explore as many aspects of life that is possible for me while I am here on this earth. I took these photos with the hope that you (the observer) like to look at them, but my earlier failed attempts at art still haunt me so to make good art was not the most important factor. To have actually done it is most important.

favourite part of someone else's body: Each person has a different part of their body which attracts me to them.
Why i shot myself: Because why not! The chance to be artistic and do something that I had never pictured myself doing and feeling safe doing it.
who I'd least like to see shoot themselves: No one as I think that anyone who does will find a personal challenge in it that is worthwhile doing.
who I'd most like to see shoot themselves: Myself about 20 years ago.
Bands I like: Joni Mitchell, Ember Swift, Beth Orton and Natalie Merchant.
Books I like: Sadly work books and articles have taken over this part of my life.
Films I like: Fahrenheit 47, Pope Joan, Lilith.
