ARTISTS STATEMENT

I loved shooting myself because it gave me the opportunity to be totally in control of how I am captured. After sharing my body with lots of people, for love or for the everyday experience of being a woman objectified in this world, I try really hard to always feel in control and present in my body. It's also scary letting myself go and really engaging with the fact that I am beautiful no matter what I look like. I felt great in this shoot because it was during a sneaky love/sex getaway with one of my lovers. I'm sporting less body hair than usual and I almost felt self conscious about that. I love my body hair and I love the way my body can surprise even me in the way it moves. For me gender is fluid. I might look like a woman but that doesn't necessarily mean that's the way I identify. I am femme (and I love it!) but that doesn't mean anything about my body or my desires. I desire people with all different kinds of bodies and we have all different kinds of sex. I'm always trying to explode any assumptions the world makes about me, as well as challenging myself and exploring how I feel about gender and sex. I find this makes for a much better sex life! I feel so empowered and excited using my body in ways that get me off. Shooting myself was one tiny way of saying that what I have is in my body and my soul is powerful and beautiful and I love sharing it with people when they respect that power.
