ARTISTS STATEMENT

My name is Espen and above all, my passion is art. Some of the greatest art on earth was not created by artists as we know them, but by nature. The human body is one of the most beautiful wonders that the world has created. After years of self-conscious suffering, I finally found the beauty of my own body and ever since I have found great joy in creating photos of my work of art. Modelling has been just another facet of my artist personality. I paint and draw. I've dabbled in print making and embroidery; I'm also a writer of fiction, an experimenter in the field of essays and a new poet. I adore modelling, it's an entirely new way to create art. Although I love working with photographers, some of my favourite photos have come from self-shooting. The atmosphere is so intimate, and it's empowering to be in complete control of all aspects of the photos. I can envision and create exactly the image that I need to at the moment that I need to, using nothing but my own body and talent. I'm not looking for fame but I'm always seeking a place to share my art with those who will appreciate it. In Project ISM, I think that I've found a perfect audience. Please enjoy my work, my art.

biggest passion in my life: Writing and art. If I'm not creating, I'm not alive.
I like to listen to: pretty much everything.

I like to smell: like soap and whatever lotion I chose that day.
I like to taste: everything, all the time. I'm a big food lover and I love to cook.
I like to feel: soft sweaters and feather pillows and especially purring kitten balls of fur.
favourite part of my body: My collarbones, especially the one with the tattoo.
favourite part of someone else's body: Usually their collarbones too, I'm fascinated by bones.
Why i shot myself: I shot myself because I believe that the human body is one of the most beautiful, natural shapes in the world and sharing it is a really magical experience. I use my body to create art.
who I'd least like to see shoot themselves: No one, everyone should try it.
who I'd most like to see shoot themselves: Sasha Grey, she's my most recent hero.

Most outrageous thing I have done: Shot off fireworks with my friends in skeleton houses under construction. I was a crazy preteen, but it was amazing.
Bands I like: Metallica, Seether and Evanescence are my three favourites. Lately I've also been listening to Tool, USS, The Birthday Massacre and Luke Pickett.
Books I like: This is always such a hard question, I love so many books. I own a library and I'm always building it. I'm passionate about literary fiction and poetry. I love Charles Baudelaire.
Films I like: The Crow is my absolute favourite. I love anything with Johnny Depp, Edward Norton, Dustin Hoffman or Gary Oldman.
other random stuff: I'm currently obsessed with e-books.
