ARTISTS STATEMENT

I found shooting this folio to be an unexpectedly intimate experience, learning my body from the perspective of a photograph was new and delightful. I felt free to be bold and wild in front of a camera I was operating, and consequently ended up with some photographs I never could have gotten with a traditional photo shoot. I really enjoyed the process. This folio is meant to be a celebration of fall, my favorite season. I greatly enjoyed having an excuse to be nude in the damp leaves and feel and smell them around me as I photographed. I really don't like wearing clothes and given my way would be naked most of the time. Being naked outdoors is extremely liberating for me, and I do it as often as legally possible. I feel the happiest about life when I feel the sun against my skin, squish my toes in wet grass or mud, and can spring about among the foliage. I shot myself because I want to create beautiful erotic art that is empowering, intimate and honest. I believe bodies are beautiful, and sex is beautiful. In my dream world, nudity is just a way of being, sex is something that happens between mutually consenting adults and people are less concerned by dogmatic structures about what is natural and unnatural. As I begin to creep into the adult industry, I want to start working towards more beautiful pornography. My body is my political tool to create the kind of celebratory, empowering art I'd like to see become more mainstream, as a part of a larger cultural shift towards more sex-positivism.

Why i shot myself: I believe in finding the meeting place of empowerment, erotica, feminism, and art and I believe this site accomplishes that beautifully.

Most outrageous thing I have done: Umm, if I had to pick one, it would be...ran around stark naked on a frozen lake in Northern Wisconsin in the middle of February for fun.
Bands I like: I have been called a 'musical enigma because of the diversity of my interests - for now let's just say everything from industrial metal to swedish reggae.
Books I like: Anything by Neil Gaiman, the Abhorsen trilogy.
Films I like: I very much enjoy Pan's Labyrinth, The Invention of Lying, La Traviata and Rusalka. I tend to veer towards live opera and play performances.
other random stuff: Currently I'm in love with my cast iron skillet and the smells, sights and tastes of fall.
