ARTISTS STATEMENT
This shoot was like being intimate with someone new for the first time. At first very awkward, timid and shy but, very quickly became a performance of sorts and then a game of pleasure, constantly thinking of new angles and parts. I quickly became comfortable taking photos and showing parts of my body I'm not entirely fond of, specifically my belly. As I took photos as a whole I quickly admired every other part of it because I've spent so many years, hours and thousands of dollars decorating it, I saw myself more as a whole art piece. I caught myself the day after looking in the mirror clothed but complimenting myself on my whole shape and not just parts. I think I've spent so many years only taking "flattering" photos to appease someone else that I probably didn't even respect or care for. Doing this art project for myself and just being unapologetically raw in front of a camera was more fucking liberating than I could've imagined and that's exactly why I decided to participate but it was better than expected. I can't wait to hire a photographer to do a boudoir photo shoot for myself as a keepsake to look back on and love what I am now and not the potential of what I could be. I hope whoever sees these photos gets whatever pleasure they may because it was a pleasure to show off this vessel, she's carried me so far in life and I'm forever grateful for this body. I love her.

ARTIST PROFILE
birthplace: Saskatchewan, Canada
occupation: Tattooist, bartender
age: 30
height: 167cm
relationship status: Single
starsign: Capricorn
biggest passion in my life: To be content and happy as much as possible, to be wild but tame, to be a nomad, to discover, to change minds and views on life and offer different perspectives and be kind to others but mostly myself
I like to listen to: Podcasts about ghosts stories, hauntings and demons, any murders and serial killers, I like hearing old people swear and cuss. Also men who make noise in bed during sex - it's so undervalued
I like to watch: I like to people watch but I also love a good cartoon. The Simpsons, King of the Hill, Bob's Burgers. I'll often watch kid movies to be honest
I like to smell: The air after a rainfall, the smell of tiny babies, and weirdly gasoline/petrol because it reminds me of the farm, of snowmobiles in the winter time and 4-wheelers, roadtrips and campfire clothes
I like to taste: I'm a sucker for home cooked meals but I love wild game; deer, rabbit, moose, caribou. My last meal on deathrow, (hypothetically of course) would be rare bison steak and runny eggs with HP sauce
I like to feel: Secure, safe and welcomed in new spaces. I like to feel respected and understood. I recently discovered I love the feeling of being picked up like a kid
favourite part of my body: My face, my eyes, my legs, the tattoos, obviously
favourite part of someone else's body: Their eyes, shoulders, thighs, smile and hands but the sexiest part is their capacity for emotional intelligence
Why i shot myself: I'm not interested in other medias and this was more of chance to try something new with myself because I don't think I would've been brave enough to do so in the past. It also made me feel like I was reclaiming my own sexuality in my own way and taking back my own idea of self expression and respect.
who I'd least like to see shoot themselves: That's mean! Anyone should do it if they want to
who I'd most like to see shoot themselves: Hmm I'd love to see more women of colour and plus size women and alternative women. Basically I'd like to see myself more represented in any media
Most outrageous thing I have done: The day before I turned 30 I decided to drop acid and really reflect on the past decade and I what I want in the next decade of my life. I think both events changed me, as both were fucking wild events and I regret nothing
Bands I like: Rise Against, Leonard Sumner, Alexisonfire, City & Colour, DaysNdaze and any all Motown hits, 90's rock and anything with a banjo
Books I like: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey, Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
Films I like: Cry Baby, Once Were Warriors, Pulp Fiction, The Grizzlies, Indian Horse
