ARTISTS STATEMENT

I feel like I was always meant to do this shoot. There is nothing more beautiful to me than the female body. I spent my teenage years doodling in my school books various aspects of women's curves. And as an adult this led me to exploring life modelling, Shibari art and pole dance. My apartment is covered in art of women's bodies, including my own. Embracing and celebrating the female form is so important in a culture where it is consistently objectified, critiqued and pulled apart. I took a tab off a poster randomly on the side of the street and when it led me to ISM I was so excited, as I had heard of the site from my time doing life modelling and had always wanted to come check it out. A few years later, life led me there anyway. It felt very serendipitous. The appeal of this project for me was that even though I love sexuality and nudity, mainstream porn has always left a bad taste in my mouth. There's too much to dislike about it to unpack here, but this project is the antithesis to mainstream porn. For me, this was a celebration of the female body, through their own gaze. This was about real-ness and vulnerability and the beauty of our true nature. I feel proud to contribute to this project and join the many other beautiful women being celebrated here.
