ARTISTS STATEMENT

As I shot my photos, I felt a sense of innocence. I expected that I would feel sexy or beautiful, but I instead I felt... Human. After struggling with ups and downs in self-esteem, I felt that I came to a middle ground, wearing only my own skin, laying in the sun. I wasn't ugly, and I wasn't beautiful. The curves and angles of my body, the symmetry or lack of symmetry all existed with no need for judgement or comment. It was peaceful. I noticed that though I was comfortable with myself, the thought of showing certain parts of myself to the world was daunting and uncomfortable. It isn't because they're "unappealing", but because I myself haven't come to terms with the fact that they're a part of me. I think overcoming that is an important part of learning to accept my physical being, so thank you for being a part of this journey!

I like to listen to: Spring's got me in the mood for some indie rock and jazz!
I like to watch: Trees swaying in the wind, green beans turning from dull to bright green when you poach them. I also like to watch my cat stretch, yawn, and curl back up into a ball
I like to smell: Freshly baked banana cake, and a new candle I got labelled "stillness"!
I like to taste: The warmth of soup on a cold winter night
I like to feel: My cat bump my palm with the top of his head, I like to feel the rumbles of his purring
favourite part of my body: My legs! A few years of martial arts training made them strong!
favourite part of someone else's body: His hands, especially when they're holding mine
Why i shot myself: To take a step forward to becoming more comfortable with my body.
who I'd least like to see shoot themselves: No one really :)
who I'd most like to see shoot themselves: Absolutely anyone who wants to! Seeing people embracing their nudity is beautiful
Most outrageous thing I have done: The most outrageous thing I've ever done... has yet to happen I think!
Bands I like: Bill Wurtz, Summer Salt, Jacob Collier, Joe Hisaishi, Yuji Nomi, and CHIKA!
Books I like: I loved The Legends of the Condor Heroes, I, Coriander, and Totto-Chan (The Girl by the Window)
Films I like: I recently watched The Man from U.N.C.L.E. which was really fun! All time favourites include Legend of Fong Sai Yuk, School of Rock, and Kiki's Delivery Service!
