I view myself, not as a temple, but as a forest. Lush, thick, dense. Full of life and fruits. Food and shelter for all of those I allow in. My legs are tree trunks. As you climb up you begin to notice the vines that shape my home. My arms branch out into a strawberry bush, my fingertips being sweet and juicy berries. Keep going higher and you'll find a mind as vibrant and hot as the lands around the equator. My afro is the canopy of my forest. Exposing my roots as an Afro-Latin American. Celebrating my African roots as they mingle and mix with my eastern European genes. This wild mane helps me stand my ground and makes me feel prideful of all the steps my ancestors had to walk just so I could have the opportunity of life.
