ARTISTS STATEMENT

I have been trying to find my sexuality, but I have always felt ashamed of myself and my body. Although I have Western background, Asian moral values and cultural aspects that make up women's identity and their rights have still taken me back to not show off how beautiful I am without any makeup and clothes on. Through photographing myself, naked, I did not really feel comfortable honestly; I wanted to run away and not commit myself to not participate in this project. However, I do not regret of doing it - because I know that my body, myself is natural. Therefore, being naked is also natural and not something that I should be ashamed of or condemn myself from doing it. I'll be probably going through lots of struggle in the future about finding my sexuality and find positiveness in it, so I thought why not just do it by pushing myself to take photos of my naked self. And in a way, that I will not be feeling chased by it or running away from it like I always do - just face it and snap out from my fear.
