ARTISTS STATEMENT

I am obsessed with beauty. I am a romantic (though I try to keep my thoughts and attitudes realistic!) I think it is the beautiful things, spaces and people that really make the world a wonderful place of which to be a part. Beauty inspires me. It seems to me that a lack of beauty fosters negative mindsets such as pessimism and depression. I think we all seek expressions and examples of beauty with which to fill our lives, and without this we become listless. The wonderful thing, and the difficult thing, is that everybody's perception differs when it comes to what is beautiful. There are things we can all agree are beautiful, and there are things we can all agree are dull, but the in-between spaces are all about personal view. And then what is considered 'most beautiful' in the media and the world around is is constantly shifting from one thing to another, and we are so easily influenced. Yet it is the difference itself, that is beautiful. We tend to find beauty in people who look different to us, and in places that are new to us. And so, it seems to me that all that matters is confidence: confidence in who you are, and the confidence to say, about yourself and others, "To me, this is beauty".

I like to listen to: people talk about their passions. Anything can be exciting when the person telling you has passion!
I like to watch: street life. I like to imagine where people are going and what their lives might hold.
I like to smell: spices, leather, books, heat, the kind of smells you notice when stepping inside from the cold.
I like to taste: spicy foods that burst with flavour when they hit my tongue.
I like to feel: loved, appreciated, and beautiful.
favourite part of my body: My small waist. It accentuates my hourglass shape, and means I look good in vintage dresses!
favourite part of someone else's body: The mouth and the differences in lip shapes and sizes. I am mesmerised by the way someone's mouth moves.
Why i shot myself: To show the world that I am a beautiful, confident woman!
who I'd most like to see shoot themselves: Ani DiFranco or Bill Bailey!
Bands I like: Tom Waits, Tuba Skinny, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Brother's Grim and the Blue Murders, Ella Fitzgerald.
