ARTISTS STATEMENT

I chose to contribute to the project as I've struggled with body image issues as well as social and professional pressures and thought this would be a real challenge. I've been into photography for a while. I like black and white photography because you can concentrate on light, shape and contrast without worrying about colour. I think there's too much shame and embarrassment concerned with public nudity, just because we're conditioned to associate a naked body with sex, not with all the other amazing and interesting things about it. I'd like to see a day where everyone, from politicians to suburban mums, can do a project like this, enjoy it and not care who knows. Life is too short to be bothered by things like boobs and bums, just get on with it and enjoy yourself.
