ARTISTS STATEMENT

I photographed myself during a very brief visit to Byron Bay, for which my intention had been to enjoy a few days of self-loving and some recognition and worship of my inner goddess. I was entranced by the exotic jungle rainforest of Queensland - dripping, warm and stirring all around me. With less than an hour to work with, and amidst a cloud of mosquitos (who obviously found me irresistible!) I did my shoot, so there was really no chance for conceptual ideas or planning involved. Due to the nature of photographing myself alone, I felt quite out of control of the outcome of each shot, and it was a matter of chance what angle or part of my body was captured. In a way I really like this lack of control, because it frees the creative process and allows it to be organic, unexpected and alive, like Nature. I feel that I played more the role of model than photographer. Perhaps Nature was my photographer. I enjoyed the experience of being naked and acknowledging the beauty of my human form. While is is not uncommon for me to spend time naked, nurturing and loving myself when I am in private, capturing and offering these moments to a project built on women who have also shared themselves is something incredible and very beautiful. I am honoured to have been able to take part, and it warms my heart to know that women are proud of their bodies and can celebrate their divine beauty.

Why i shot myself: I wanted to honour my sacred body and expland my consciousness through a new experience.
who I'd most like to see shoot themselves: Anyone who would do it if/but/except that...(insert reason for excusing themselves here).
Most outrageous thing I have done: Made love with an amnesiac God.
