ARTISTS STATEMENT

This project was an incredibly liberating experience for me, as I'm sure it is for many women. Throughout our lives we receive a bombardment of unhealthy messages which suggest nudity - and in turn our bodies - are something to be ashamed of; hidden. When I began shooting I felt a little uncomfortable, but these feelings soon subsided as I realised this was just those old, shabby concepts about nudity breaking down while a whole new personal liberation was born. The project has become a celebration of humanness in its most basic and raw form and all the things nudity represents: vulnerability, authenticity, honesty and self acceptance.
