ARTISTS STATEMENT

Nude modelling. Tough, rich, wholesome, FUN! Being allowed to direct myself and be given a project which promotes feminine instinct and control rather than submission and anonymity was satisfying beyond expectation. Before doing the folio I felt like a spectator in a corporate world which was void of a language that still very much exists in women of all ages but whose platform for expression is much less accessible. Somewhere along the line women were encouraged to cover up instead of strip down, to be quiet instead of speak up, and to follow instead of lead. No matter how many women prove their brilliance time and again this paradigm still seems to exist in the top echelons of society where real change is determined by a small few. Project ISM has given me the opportunity to affect this paradigm in a way that has left me empowered and has restored my enthusiasm for promoting this otherwise silent cause. In accepting this project every person is encouraged to harness a control that has always been theirs and while it may be uncomfortable possessing such a power we must persevere until women are not forced to prove they are powerful but are assumed so. Until that moment is achieved project ISM will remain a very necessary platform for promoting the status of real women; that is, anything she desires to be.

Why i shot myself: To destroy the vice of image. To forfeit power and find a totally new sense of strength waiting for me on the other side.
