ARTISTS STATEMENT

I'm a tattooist in training, so my life's work revolves around modifying the naked skin of complete strangers who come from all walks of life. I ultimately form an intimate bond with them - they have put a great deal of trust in me. Thinking about these bonds I form every day, I realized that my own self-knowledge paled in comparison. I contributed to ISM to build the same manner of bond with my own body, to appreciate it for all of its lines, curves, and quirks. The results were surprising - even though my body is far from a stereotyped image of beauty, I felt myself shuffing off the comparisons in the process of shooting and appreciating my chameleonic body - one moment gentle, curvaceous, flowing like the sea; the next moment thick and powerful, from aggressor to passive receptor. Changing again and again... I feel stronger now; balanced, as if something a long time waiting has been resolved. And all of that self-analytical pondering aside, it was just a hell of a lot of fun. Dear neighbor who was hanging out laundry - you're welcome!

Most outrageous thing I have done: Randomly move to Japan from America, and then Oz from Japan.
Bands I like: MSI, Murder City Devils, The Decemberists, Outkast, The Clash, The Cure, The Faint, Wire, The Buzzcocks, Avenged Sevenfold, Bauhaus, Air, David Bowie,The Rolling Stones, I ran out of space uh-oh.
Books I like: Anything by HP Lovecraft, The Mists of Avalon, Love in the Time of Cholera, House of the Spirits, Harry Potter (especially #6), just anything that creates a strong sense of environment really.
Films I like: Crank, Sukiyaki Western Django, Pirates of the Flippin Caribbean!!!, Waking Life, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I am probably going to run out of space again.
other random stuff: I am drawn to the strange things in life; secrets, subversion, intrigue. My whole life has been about pushing limits and I haven't found mine yet. Got to keep looking.
