ARTISTS STATEMENT

When I heard of I Shot Myself, I knew this project had my name all over it. It's creative, sensual, I get to be in total control (we love that, ha) and I could work on my tan. Does it get better? Where do I sign up? My world is so full of colour and music so this was a must to portray in my shoot. In connecting to my mama, nature, I felt myself merge into the landscape. The immense beauty I felt in this space added a vibrancy to my spirit and sense of self. Funny coz I thought I was already bright. Now I am a lighthouse! The ancient mermish language channelled through my being as I took the photos in my private Caribbean. So I sang out across the rocks, sand, sun, ocean and the pandannas trees. This was a truly divine experience. I love being naked in the sun at the ocean...It's so liberating! On the flip side, I decided to do an indoor shoot to show of colour, flare and test my artist skills. This was a challenge as the lighting is hard to work indoors. I felt so gorgeous, like a resplendent bird of paradise in the indoor shoot. I love my body and feel very blessed that it's mine after seeing what I created. There are two Afro-Brazialian Goddesses that I walk with in this life. I felt them shine through me in both shoots. At the end of each shoot I could think of so many ideas of what else I could do. It's amazing to feel so alive and inspired... That's what this project has brought out in me.
