ARTISTS STATEMENT

I've done nude modelling and self-photoshoots before, but not for a few years. I'm a pretty active person - rock climbing, yoga, cycling. Like many, I put on extra weight during the pandemic and not all of it has come off. I found that confronting at first in my shoot, trying to compare myself at nearly 40 to myself in my mid-20's. I realized just how much in the past few years I've been focusing so hard on my family and my career that I haven't taken as much interest in my physical self. It's been really eye-opening and has inspired me to pick up painting again, from these photos and maybe others, as a way to appreciate who and where I am.

favourite part of someone else's body: I love my partner's long, muscly climbers arms that wrap around me like an anaconda

Most outrageous thing I have done: I went skinny dipping in the Mediterranean with a group of students and Israeli soldiers after drinking a bottle of questionable Russian vodka
