ARTISTS STATEMENT

I consider myself to have some of the most beautiful qualities - kindness, compassion, tenderness and warmth. I value living my life authentically, so when I was considering the artistic aspects of this shoot, my main objective was to capture my essence. It may sound cliché - but I've found myself at a point where I'm looking within, searching my soul and learning how to love myself. I wanted to capture the blooming of my true self - hence the flowers. The book pictured is titled "The Way of Zen" by Alan Watts and is the book I'm currently reading. I opened my journal to a random entry and found the most beautiful affirmations I wrote a few months ago which are pictured in the shoot. The map you can see on my bedroom wall was gifted to me years ago and the jewellery I'm wearing hasn't come off in years. While reviewing my shoot, I realized how personal these aspects are and truly connected with my identity. I never considered myself to be a creative or artistic, but these photos proved me wrong and I'm pleasantly surprised, and inspired.
