ARTISTS STATEMENT

Me gusta sentirme conectada con mi cuerpo y mis emociones, para mi la desnudez también representa desnudarme emocionalmente, poner mis sentimientos de la forma más sincera y cruda que conozco. Participar en Ishotmyself ha significado tener un espacio de expresión y libertad para mostrar quien soy, cual es mi cuerpo y reivindicar el hecho de que existo en este mundo. Llevo tatuada la frase "No soy musa, soy artista y de las gordas" porque para mi mostrar mi cuerpo significa desobedecer y romper las normas de una sociedad que me quiere escondida, por ser mujer queer y gorda. Hago de mi cuerpo e imagen un espacio para habitar y crear arte, un arte libre de prejuicios y abierto al crecimiento. / I like to feel connected with my body and my emotions, for me nudity also represents emotionally undressing, putting my feelings in the most sincere and raw way I know. Participating in Ishotmyself has meant having a space for expression and freedom to show who I am, what my body is and to vindicate the fact that I exist in this world. I have tattooed the phrase "I am not a muse, I am an artist and one of the fat women" because for me showing my body means disobeying and breaking the rules of a society that wants me hidden, for being a queer and fat woman. I make my body and image a space to inhabit and create art, an art free of prejudices and open to growth.
