ARTISTS STATEMENT

ISM caught my eye immediately because the photographs that I saw on their Instagram didn't feel hyper-edited or male-gazey. I am all for sex positivity and shifting towards more artistic/female-focused erotic contributions and sites - I don't think porn has to be inherently patriarchal although I think it sadly often is. I want to be a part of shifting this narrative, so the idea of a body-positive, personalised, female-focused platform for expressing my sexuality is very exciting to me. Another reason for wanting to contribute is that my journey to loving my body and feeling confident in my skin has been a long and rugged one; I don't consider myself "conventionally beautiful" (although that term makes me squirm) and embracing my uniqueness has been a confronting journey in many ways. This being said I have always felt very tuned into my sexuality, even from a young age, and I get so much fun expressing myself this way with my partners when I feel safe. I would like to be able to bring this kind of energy into more aspects of my life and not feeling like I need to hide any part of me: I want to push out of my comfort zone and embrace all aspects of my body, even those that wouldn't be considering normatively 'sexy'. What I want most is to embody a more holistic, and genuine, sexuality. This has been my first time modelling and first time publicly nude to boot, and I am glad to have done it.
