ARTISTS STATEMENT

La photographie, qui a commencé comme un simple hobby d'enfance, est rapidement devenue une passion dévorante qui m'a suivie pendant toute mon adolescence et jusqu'à l'âge adulte. Quelque chose qui m'aide à canaliser mes émotions et à me sentir connectée à moi-même. Me prendre en photo nue me rappelle toutes les choses extraordinaires que je peux faire grâce à mon corps. Il est mon outil principal, ma voix, il est mon moyen d'expression, mon interlocuteur au quotidien. La nudité n'est pas intrinsèquement sexuelle. Elle peut être sensuelle mais elle est avant tout naturelle. En tant que femme, je suis objectifiée et sexualisée en permanence. J'ai donc souvent le besoin et l'envie de me réapproprier ma nudité, de l'apprécier pour ce qu'elle est vraiment. De montrer le vrai "moi" en toute simplicité. Un être humain, dans toute sa splendeur. L'idée de me prendre en photo pour moi-même, pour le plaisir d'expérimenter, et non pour satisfaire le fantasme de quelqu'un d'autre, m'attirait. C'est la raison pour laquelle j'avais envie de participer au projet Ishotmyself. J'ai trouvé cela empouvoirant de lâcher prise, de mettre de côté toutes les attentes, les jugements et de se laisser guider par le courant. / Photography, what started as a childhood hobby, rapidly became a favourite passion of mine throughout my teenage years and adulthood. Something that keeps me sane and grounded. Photographing myself naked reminds me of the great things I can do with my body. It is my main tool, my voice, the way I express, connect with, listen to myself. Nudity is not inherently sexual. It can be sensual but above all, it is a natural state. As a woman, I have been objectified and sexualized my whole life. I often feel the need to reclaim my nudity. To appreciate it for what it is. To show the real me. A human being, in all its naked glory. I wanted to take part in the Ishotmyself project because I liked the idea of taking photos for myself, for the fun of it. Not to fulfill somebody else's fantasy. It felt empowering to let go of any expectations and judgement and just go with the flow.

Why i shot myself: Because I have been a self-portrait and nude photography enthusiast for more than 10 years already. I think it is fair to say that it is probably one of my favourite things to do in life.
