ARTISTS STATEMENT
I have always been interested in using the body as the medium or vehicle for art. I have explored this through dance and movement practices, fashion and now self-portraiture. At the heart of this is the desire to manipulate my exterior to highlight or mask elements of my internal world. I often use clothing as a tool to express myself so was excited to explore being expressive and creative with the naked form alone. This shoot documents my body and also the process of discovering my body in real time. It was confronting but ultimately liberating to document myself with such minimal props and costume. It prompted me to celebrate parts of myself that I didn't previously see as beautiful.
