ARTISTS STATEMENT

I had a friend shoot for ISM and I was super curious about the different ways that I could express myself and my passion for change around how people view and value themselves. What better way to explore body positivity for all by starting with myself? I have wanted to be able to fall in love with my body for as long as I can remember but the pathway to this goal was completely obscured by the prevalence of standard narrative regarding female form. This is far from being an isolated personal journey. I really became motivated to freely accept and cherish my body when I noticed SO MANY people I encountered expressing hate towards themselves and experiencing tumult because they weren't slim, or didn't feel fit or sexy enough. It's a heartbreaking thing to realise. So I decided to start by just getting naked randomly and parading around with my friends from time to time... or whenever I heard painful, self-effacing comments come from people. I didn't always feel sexy... I worked on believing it for the sake of myself and the demise of the myth that we have to be slim to be sexy. I just stopped trying to change myself, started enjoying my belly, my broad back and shoulders etc. I started to accept compliments rather than pass them off as flattery. I decided eventually to take things a step further and started working in the sex industry. I might as well get paid for people to worship my immense physicality! What a massive turn around from my former timidity when it came to sex and confidence. I can say with full conviction that my life has been transformed by the acceptance of my human skin sack because when it comes down to it, its simply a vessel that allows me to laugh and be spirited in the physical, and it certainly shouldn't be a source of sorrow and confusion. This shoot for ISM is a total extension of everything that I have learned about being in my body, only better cause now its immortalized in images. Woohoo! I love sex and bodies.
