SASSYOH

ARTISTS STATEMENT
People laugh when I tell them I'm shy. They're puzzled when I tell them that I'm a very private person. They doubt my sincerity because I've been photographed nude thousands of times. What they don't understand is that my nudity is a cloak. A shield. My body, regardless of anyone's opinion of it, is unremarkable; it has all the expected appendages. No startling growths or unnatural colours. It is nothing more than a vehicle or vessel. Being nude forces me to drop my guard. It lets me focus on the fact that the emotions I'm trying to express through the camera are not unique or shocking. I can identify with the viewer (voyeur) looking at my photographs without opening my mouth.
