ARTISTS STATEMENT

I have multiple chronic illnesses that really affect my day to day life and for a really long time I had a huge disconnect between the person I was vs what my body could do. As a young person it's hard to be starting out in what everyone tells you are supposed to be "the best years of your life" when you can't even get out of bed without vomiting. I started working as a cam girl from my bedroom and in the beginning I had never even masturbated with the lights on. The learning curve was a steep one but one that taught me about sex positivity, intersectionality in feminism and slowly learning about how to go through the world with a new and unfamiliar body. I think we are taught that being openly sexual is a negative thing - yet on a daily basis we are sexualised in the media, we are used to sell things, men sexualise us on the street so taking that back and saying "Hey, this is mine" is something that's still considered quite taboo in a sense and I like being the kind of person that makes conservative people uncomfortable. Through feminism and sex work I think I have made myself into someone I could of really benefited from being around when I was younger.
