ARTISTS STATEMENT

I think it is important to look at yourself with your own eyes, and they might see different things on different days, but they will be your own. I used to see myself through what I thought other people - particularly men - might see, or think of me from my body. I know that I have been lucky to have a socially acceptable body, and that if I was overweight, or had more pimples, it would be so much more difficult to look at myself with kind eyes. Nonetheless, I think it is important for everyone to be honest, but kind to yourself and to not try to think about what other people might see in you.
