ARTISTS STATEMENT

During the shoot I felt really excited to be part of something like this. The only nude modelling I'd been a part of was for art classes, but with this project I felt like I could get across a message and connect it more deeply with myself. Growing up I was always told to hide my body, but the truth is there is nothing wrong with exposing yourself. I'm tired of patriarchal society demonizing women, trying to control them by condemning them for dressing how they please or acting like nudity is a negative thing. I think this is a great movement to fight the over sexualization of women and remind ourselves to not let these external critiques stop us from being ourselves. Someone once told me, it will do nothing to try and normalize nudity, men won't change they're conditioned this way to take advantage of women or demean them, and to that I say, nothing ever gets done by appeasing to those that victimize you. You must create the change within this world if you desire it to be so and be a leader!

favourite part of someone else's body: Eyes, can see the soul through there!
Why i shot myself: Why not!? I love being naked and I'm happy to get behind empowering ourselves and taking away from the over sexualization of women.
who I'd least like to see shoot themselves: Eh I don't have one for this, maybe if more people shot themselves naked we'd be in a better world, haha
who I'd most like to see shoot themselves: Anyone who has felt self conscious about themselves, it's a great way to see and accept the many angles and folds that make up everyone

Most outrageous thing I have done: Woo that's a hard one! Probably when I jumped out of a fire escape and climbed a fence to escape the cops during a house party

Books I like: Perks of Being a Wallflower, Radix, Hack/Slash (comic series), Watchmen (comic series)
