ARTISTS STATEMENT

We were born naked, the rest is goofiness. I cannot help it, this is who I am. The flamboyant expressions and crazy faces: all of them are real, all of them are me. That is another kind of nudity... and probably the most shocking one, where I display traces of my past. In my culture, exposing oneself the way I just did requires a huge sense of not-giving-a-fuck-ism. Maybe that's the reason Garcia Marquez affirms all human beings have three lives: public, private, and secret. This shoot reunites gracefully this holy triad. Needless to say, the literature of my country is almost as outstanding as its women's curves. / Todos nacemos desnudos, el resto son tonterias. No puedo evitarlo, asi soy yo. Las expresiones fuera de lo comun y las caras locas: todas son reales, todas son quien soy. Es otro tipo de desnudez... probablemente una mas impactante, donde proyecto trazos de mi pasado. En mi cultura, exponerse de esta manera requiere un gran sentido de irreverencia. Quizas esa sea la razon por la cual Garcia Marquez afirma que todos los seres humanos tienen tres vidas: publica, privada, y secreta. Estas fotografias reunen emblematicamente esta triada. Esta de mas decir que la literatura de mi pais es casi tan asombrosa como las curvas de sus mujeres.
