ARTISTS STATEMENT

As a child growing up in sunny Southern California, I loved hanging out in my house naked. I saw nudity as comfortable and natural before I even thought of it as sexual. Even as I've discovered and harnessed my sexuality, I've had continual exposure to platonic nudity throughout my life, living in a nudity-positive community in Big Sur and a co-op in Berkeley that allows egalitarian toplessness and partial nudity. Unfortunately, my understanding of nudity as a natural state is fairly unique because modern Western society upholds an oppressive dualism between humans and nature, which is why I revel in the opportunity to reclaim and de-sexualize natural nudity in this shoot!
