ARTISTS STATEMENT

Only recently have I started embracing my nudity. It all started when I went to a nudist beach in Torquay with my 2 best girl mates and a guy. Before we went, we were all talking about how funny it was that we hadn't properly seen each other naked, even though we'd done so much together. We were laughing about how we were self conscious and scared that we would have the 'longest labia' of the group. But 15 minutes after arriving, labias were flowing in the wind, no one had a care in the world and we were all just having so much fun - being comfortable in our bodies and embracing every nook and cranny. I love this project because it focuses on being happy in your own skin. By subverting the male gaze, taking the camera literally into your own hands, displaying yourself how YOU want to be seen, how you want to be considered, is such an amazing but rare thing. I wish I could wear my love for my own body more often, and I wish that I could see others love for their own bodies more often. I hate that lives are ruined by eating disorders, lives of my friends. If everyone took some time to appreciate their own body, I think the world would be a better place.

Most outrageous thing I have done: One time at a nightclub I got trapped in the store room all night, luckily there was lots of wine and kebabs in there. Annoyingly, I got fined and blacklisted from the club.
