ARTISTS STATEMENT

I'm an artist who paints pictures about architecture and society, so it was fun to participate in this photography project, where I had the chance to play with a camera, lighting and my body as the subject. Bodies of all genders, shapes and forms are complete miracles, and should be celebrated. Unrealistic images of female bodies are imposed on us constantly, our bodies are co-opted for capital gain and exploitation. Barbara Kruger said "your body is a battlefield". To own your own body and be free to share it with who you want is a powerful statement. If I engage with the history of the nude, it is because I choose to. In the end, we're all just bald monkeys.
