ARTISTS STATEMENT

I feel like my body is something that I’ve always had a love hate relationship with. I have never really had crippling self-esteem issues but there have been days when I have thrown a ‘tantrum’ and refused to go anywhere because a dress wasn’t sitting right or my jeans cut in to places that made me look like a pork roast. I owe a lot of my self-confidence to my amazing boyfriend who refuses to acknowledge my moments of self-doubt. He is constantly building me up with compliments and making sure that I know that ‘what other people think of me is none of my business’. That is a little mantra that I am slowly beginning to follow more and more each day. It helped me build pride in myself. It taught me that I am here, I am alive, and I am healthy so fuck what everyone else thinks. IShotMyself has definitely made me view my body in a different light. I’ve realised that the female body is a thing of remarkable beauty. It is an incredible machine that can create so much love and life and every single one is unique.

I like to smell: Home-made meals; like a big stew that’s been on low all day, or freshly made bread
I like to taste: Memories - Gran’s Christmas pudding, dad’s bacon bone soup
I like to feel: Like everything is falling into place or like my day works out like clock work
favourite part of my body: I don’t mind my boobs…or my lips - I love wearing lipstick!
favourite part of someone else's body: I am fascinated with people’s eyes, and their jaw lines/cheek bones
Why i shot myself: I wanted to explore a different side of myself - see if I could 1. Actually follow through with it 2. Not hate myself afterwards. I succeeded in both.
who I'd least like to see shoot themselves: Donald Trump…Just…no
who I'd most like to see shoot themselves: Lady Gaga - I think she’s so in touch with her sexuality and her body that she’d take some amazing, arty pictures
my website/fav website: I guess pinterest or...? I’m not too sure actually. I mean I’m always on Facebook but it’s not really my favourite website
Most outrageous thing I have done: Had sex at a friend of my boyfriend's place while their were out grabbing some drinks around the corner. My boyfriend turned to me and said ‘do you reckon we could do it before they come back?’
Bands I like: That’s a hard question. Does anyone ever really dedicate his or her ears to a select few artists?
Books I like: Oh lord, that’s another hard one. I don’t like series…or crime, Nicolas Sparks or Jodie Picoult - so anything outside of that I will read
Films I like: I love John Hughes!
