ARTISTS STATEMENT

Although I do some illustration / graphic design in my free time photography is not something I have really previously explored as an art form. I've been in front of cameras many times so I am definitely really excited to explore being behind the lens as well and I hope it's something I can explore more in the future. This set was pretty basic but I felt it was a good start. One thing I think about taking photos is the fact that I identify as somewhat femme but also genderqueer/fluid so for me it is interesting how to photograph myself sexily without using the normal visual tropes of specifically female sexiness.. well, i have to admit that's something I haven't totally figured out yet but it's a work in process, I'm a total photography amateur so this is just my first photo set I've made (of anything, nude people or not) so hope to develop my skills in that with time, obviously nobody can escape a life time of being bombarded with mainstream sexualized images in one go.
