ARTISTS STATEMENT

This was a very new experience for me, so I wasn't able to be as creative and experimental as I would have liked. During my teenage years I hated sex and couldn't disassociate it from nudity, as a result of sexual abuse as a child. This experience has been part of my "healing", I guess. When the body is unclothed, unmasked, it speaks for itself. It doesn't have to say "fuck me" or "fuck off". I have been able to accept my body as it is in the therapeutic process of being alone with a camera and my naked self, and to celebrate it, by putting it out there as a piece of art for the world to see. I don't consider myself as beautiful, but there's something very beautiful about the body nude.
