ARTISTS STATEMENT

I really appreciate the freedom of experimentation the artist is encouraged to explore. I have always wanted to be able to look back and smile at images of myself when I am old, but have always felt uncomfortable with the industrys largely ugly hide side, until I came across ishotmyself.com. With this shoot I wanted to demonstrate the difference between the sleazy cliched image of what is 'sexy' and gradually expose the truth from my personal sexual identity. As you can see, by the end of the shoot I have become a lot more happy and creative in the use of the camera and my body. I tried not to erase any images, however there were many miss-shots, as in some positions I was simply not able to get a photo! I was unaware that through this shoot I would reveal to myself a range of identities that I had written in me. I certainly hope to explore these further - enjoy!
