This is not music but I didn't want to start another thread - but I've been finding having a look at this project really interesting. I really recommend also looking at the Nai Palm link. I love her style, I've never been able to talk to her even though I've seen her around for years. I was really grateful to learn about her what I did through this series.
Hope you enjoy the idea behind this project (of course y'all will)

Hey Sondrine,
Just a little note to thank you for your wonderful recommendations. You're so kind for sending me even more amazing music. That Black Keys song in particular was so beautiful & sexy & i haven't stopped listening to it all week. I really love their music a lot & i've loved everything i've ever heard by them but this one has really affected me for some reason. I've been reading books lately about California in the late 60's & its dark side & i think cos of the weather this week too (an absolute heat wave here right now) this song & it's atmosphere makes me think of what i've been reading about & so this song has been the soundtrack of my week. Actually i think all the songs you sent make me think of that time, particularly 'Rainbow', i absolutely love that song so much too Sondrine. I'm more & more intrigued & beguiled by your musical tastes every time you write. I have listened to a little Erykah Badu before, when she's been on music shows i've watched, but haven't paid much attention to her until now as that kind of music tends to be something i turn to for the atmosphere rather than the songs themselves (it's my favourite kind of music to listen to when i'm driving at night) but i'm looking forward to giving the album you recommended a listen cos the song from it you shared was really cool & totally different from what i listen to most of the time & i like being challenged like that. My favourite artist in that gorgeous serene sexy chilled out/nostalgic kind of genre would definitely have to be Sade, who has one of the sexiest & most beautiful voices i've ever heard & listing to her makes me think of childhood summers & fills me with 90's nostalgia. Here's a few of the songs of hers i've been revisiting this week…soooooo sexy...
'No Ordinary Love' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WcWHZc8s2I
'Cherish the Day' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKhfoKOTwZY
Thanks also for your honest thoughts on my last selections. I really enjoyed hearing what you made of everything, even the things you didn't like. I'm thrilled you loved the Bjork songs, especially 'Immature' as i love that song so much : ) You should def check out the album 'Homogenic', i think you'd love it. Here is another of my faves from that album (love the video too)…
Bjork - Bachelorette

Wow Artemesia!!!
Thanks for sharing that link…i loved listening to her talk & found both her & the idea behind the project really inspiring & powerful, especially when she spoke about her relationship with her body growing up & about her eating disorder. I definitely second your recommendation & think everyone should check it out too!! I'm really glad you shared this Artemesia. I'm definitely going to explore & research a lot more about this project & hope others will be inspired to also : )

Artemesia, thankyou so much for showing us this beautiful project ! I can't wait to get home to watch every single one !! And I looooooove Nai Palm so that's a bonus ! (I'm seeing Hiatus play in August AHH !) Do you like them ? If so, have you heard their new album ? It's just... *kisses thumb and forefinger like pizza chef* mmmwah ! Some of my favourites include:
The Lung - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjHt7YTnYIs
Borderline with My Atoms - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZZUWioDFRU
Building a Ladder - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5KTAnMIgaA (really shows off her voice here)
Molasses - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ynj2lBHV_0
Ben, it's such a wonderful coincidence that you often suggest songs by artist I know of, but never really explored. For example, I love Sade's song 'Smooth Operator' but don't really know anything else she's made. I enjoyed 'No ordinary love' (She makes a very sexy mermaid, and her wedding dress outfit is so on point) 'Cherish the day' didn't really grip me, but I think in a playlist it would be nice. And I totally know that vibe you're talking about, and I often listen to music for the atmosphere they bring.
I love the concept of Bjork's 'Bachelorette'. The way the book narrated what she was doing. Imagine if trains opened like that ! I probably wouldn't listen to the song itself though.
I love Goldfrapp ! Man, I haven't listened to her in a while. My favourite song is 'Happiness' and the video clip is so fun :-)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnHlGONToIc
I also love Róisín Murphy, and that live version was great ! I was introduced to her with 'Ramalama Bang Bang' so, naturally, I thought she was soo kooky and cool ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGzSFnLM4xA
I've never heard of IAMX but 'Lolita is a great track', I'll look into more of their stuff for sure !
I really didn't enjoy Depeche Mode. Although the vocalist had a voice like Morrisey, it wasn't in a good way, and the music was too much for me.
As always, I'm glad you've enjoyed my music suggestions and here are my 3 songs of the week:
Holiday? by Thrupence - The intro totally reminds me of Spongebob hehe. I love how the music changes throughout the song, and that it's instrumental. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8XYiVHxN_w
Man O To by Nu - Bit of a long intro but such a fun and groovy song to dance to when it gets into it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tl7O-RgCIZg
The Traitor by Menahan Street Band - I've been listening to the album quite a bit while working, lovely instrumental pieces with funky horns and bass.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eseQkCJLzrY
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ud_jP6U … Kqbhfs846q (whole album)
Enjoy !

Ps here's my two favourite Roisin Murphy videos for you (I'm so excited you're a fan of hers & Goldfrapp too!!) I love the videos she makes, the style & aesthetic (& the humour!!) has got this sexy pop art/1960's kind of feel to it that I love.
'Overpowered'

Hey Sondrine!!
I really enjoyed my summer travels thanks!! : ) I spent a lot of time travelling through France with family which was so beautiful & idyllic. I can't wait to go back there again as soon as i can. It's so melancholy that summer is coming to an end, although i find autumn such a beautiful season & love the aesthetic & atmosphere as the leaves fall & the nights close in.
Thanks so much again for all your amazing music recommendations. I really liked Nu - 'Man O To'. The gorgeous middle eastern voice & melodic style over icy stripped-back electronica i found really intriguing & it kept me listening all the way through the whole 9 minutes : ) The Menahan Street Band track (The Traitor) intrigued me as well & i enjoyed the 60's groove meets ska brass section vibe. I'll definitely be checking out the album you recommended. Speaking of groove, thanks for injecting some major groove into this thread with your Tom Tom Club recommendation haha!!! ; ) You guessed right that i'd love Lorelei!!!! What a strange song (in a good way)!!!! I loved it & it's so hard to sit writing whilst listening to it (i have it playing as i'm typing this) because you wanna get up & dance around the room : ) I loved that you played it at a house party…i'm really jealous i couldn't be there so i'll have to remember to play this at the next house party i go to!! : ) I'll definitely be really enjoying checking out the album too. The first track (Wordy Rappinghood) i've loved since i was very little cos its on all the 80's compilations i own…what i super cool song, it hasn't aged at all. I wish i was around back then when stuff like this was played in the clubs. The late 70's/early 80's is the greatest era for music ever.
I really enjoyed your recommended angry riot grrrrrrl music (love that genre name haha!!) Here's a track from the album i turn to a lot when i feel angry at the world. Its from probably one of my favourite albums, although certainly one of the most difficult & challenging emotionally & thematically (i talked quite a bit about this album & what it means to me a few pages back in this thread)
Manic Street Preachers
'Faster' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rl2Jv4dzFqg
Oh wow Sondrine, i think of all the things you recommended, i loved the Grimes track 'Oblivion' the most, probably because its the kind of music i'm into the most right now, beautiful minor-key-yet-somehow-still-happy-&-danceable gorgeousness with such lovely vocals, so perfect they put a massive smile on your face & make you so happy. I completely agree with how you described her as cute & playful yet sassy. This really came across in her voice (& the amazing video!!) & i found her lyrics incredibly thought provoking too. I cant wait to listen to the rest of the album, its one of those times when i know i'm going to become obsessed with it before i've even heard it. Thanks so much for sharing!!! : )
Here are my songs of the week for you. I've been listening to this band again a lot after forgetting about them for a while & rediscovering them recently. I was really into them a few years ago & went to see them live loads of times. The lyrics, particularly in the first song, are so beautiful I was going to post some of them in the Feel it Through Words thread for you. Would love to know what you think…??
Wild Beasts
'Bed of Nails' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbE8IWbDZmc
'Albatross' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pmk6POGjaXs
"I would lie anywhere with you,
Any old bed of nails would do,
Ink up the wound for a crude tattoo,
A big old red heart with an anchor stuck through.
Surround me like a warm bath,
Sum me up like an epitaph,
Be blatant as a bailiff,
I want our lips to blister when we kiss.
Our love, Frankenstein in nature and design,
Like the Shelleys on their very first time,
When our bodies become electrified,
Together we bring this creature alive
Its alive…it's alive…it's alive!"
Ben xx
ps really really thrilled you loved Poliça!!! : )

Here's my current listening fav, (please note this song is not my listening fav that one is Coporeal, but this one has a great clip that reminds me of one of the editors folios. Guess which one. Hint you'll have to guess which editor first)

I recently saw a concert by this man and had a blissful hour closing my eyes and enjoying the flow of images that came from his wonderful improvisations and great pedal collection

Here is my last fav at the moment. I'm into ambient, generally black metal ambient but this one is not that, it's just regualr run of the mill ambient

Dear Artemesia,
Although I am not a Christian, I love Christmas as a celebration of the winter solstice and a coming together of communities in peace, harmony, joy... and tolerance. My favourite carol is Silent Night and so I would like to share with you and the others this 1945 recording sung by Jussi Bjorling and his lovely soprano wife:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnSwE3tex4k
Also of great beauty is a 1959 recording by Bjorling of "O Holy Night" in Swedish:

Happy Christmas to you, your family, your colleagues at Feck and all the contributors to this forum.
Fondly,
Trevor

It's been a while since I've posted in the forum, and might I just add how pleased I am to see it so busy upon my return ! So, I thought I'd bring back my favourite thread.
Here are my top 10, they've been played repeat lately:
Judas - Esperanza Spalding
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h58EsOQvDIc
BABE of a bassist !! Like a modern Joni Mitchell with a lil more sass n soul.
Te souviens-tu ? - Jane Birkin & Manu Chao
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1d2vuCpr2fM
Beautiful, curious, romantic. My body melts at the sound of their voices, whispering softly in my ears
None of Your Business - Salt-n-Pepa
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35bw3gbDyQY
Doctrine of FUCK RIGHT OFF. So on point.
I'm The Man, That Will Find You - Connan Mockasin
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Teyy1A_AJso
Ooh so saucy. My hips won't stop swaying to this.
Tour De France - Kraftwerk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTZyXlLhvxs
Makes me want to side-step around the d-floor, waving my hands above my head. Or just dance, in general.
Funnel of Love -SQÜRL (featuring Madeline Follin)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Q5kaINzPWw
Makes me so hot under the collar. So thick and heavy and sensual. I've had powerful orgasms to this song.
Hey Joe - Charlotte Gainsbourg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ddEkj-7qA8
Don't get me wrong, the original will always be close to my heart, (and my crotch) but Charlotte's version is a whole different kind of sexy. There are also sneaky Gainsbourg elements. I love to masturbate to Serge Gainsbourg, so this is right up my alley.
Walk On By - Dionne Warwick
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijhL9Y7skQs
My voice sings along with the lyrics, my heart sings along with the melody.
Secret Sunday Lover (Greg Wilson Edit) - Ignition
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrEEoz8a9vc
My new favourite strutting song.
Superstylin' - Groove Armada
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76N3qAwO3GE
My faithful strutting song. When that beat kicks in, I could kick my heels as I speed off to wherever I need to be in a hurry.
Let me know what you think of them, how hard you danced to them, how hard you came to them...
