"At first I must say, I felt nervous - and I can't really explain how or why, because I have always felt comfortable surrounding myself with nudity (both mine and others). I think it's maybe because there was a camera involved, and knowing I was going to view photos of myself fully undressed, every curve and crease exposed felt like a vulnerable thing to do to myself. I decided to shoot the photos in the place I felt safe in most; in my bedroom surrounded by flowers which are always something that bring deep security to me. And flowers are such an emblem for representing beauty, grace and delicateness. As well as strength, for flowers survive rain storms and wind. It felt appropriate to include them in the shoot revolving around having the naked female body as a main subject, for women and flowers have always been connected to one another through the ages. I thought about the woman herself as a work of art, her scars and imperfections merely treasures, adding value to the whole. Upon looking back at the photographs, I was surprised to find deep appreciation and admiration for my body, and felt so appreciative to inhabit this vessel!
