"I took this series on a trip back to my home town. These pictures capture the freedom and grounding that being on familiar land gives me, surrounded by trees and cats that feel happy to see me again too. Shooting the series in the garden gave me the opportunity to play with different colours, textures and backgrounds and the way they interact with my body. I enjoyed experimenting with varied compositions and exploring the hidden pockets of my garden in ways I had not previously. I became more aware of the way different garden textures feel on my skin, contact that's usually protected by clothing, which made me feel more connected and embodied within my surroundings, and the harshness of the Australian landscape within the dry spells of summer."
