ARTISTS STATEMENT
Because of my culture and where I come from, I was so terrified of my own body, there was a stigma about women's bodies. It was always connected to shame, private and forbidden. I grew up in a society that was scared of women's figures and wanted to cover it up all the time, to hide it. Women were covered from head toe. I have always been angry of the fact that why would they cover something so beautiful? It was ironic because of that ideology or culture I was more curious about my body and always pay extra attention and appreciate other women's bodies as well. The first time I took a shower completely naked I was 14, the first time I saw my body nude I was so scared of even looking, that was the first time I saw my body, my breasts, my thighs and everywhere... I saw me and loved everything I saw, it was so natural, I was so naked and it made me feel so powerful and in control.
