ARTISTS STATEMENT

Growing up I was never happy with my body. As an athlete I was proud of what my body could do, but I never learned how to love it. Thin was never thin enough and every time I looked in the mirror I could only see flaws. I try to disguise my lack of confidence with make-up, cute clothes and high heels. It has taken a long time and a lot of patience, self love, and positive self talk, that I've finally struck a truce with body. I've started to love it, and not just despite of its flaws but because of them, for they are everything that makes me uniquely me, every scar tells a story, stretch marks that show my growth physically and mentally, wrinkles that show my experience and extra pounds that remind me of the happy memories I had gaining them. I finally love my body and it loves me right back.
