ARTISTS STATEMENT

Posing naked is a form of empowerment for me. When I take the camera into my own hands and capture myself in its lens, I must be fully present in my body. As I click away, as the photographs unfold in a series of images and skin, I become beautiful to myself. I have no choice. There is a lot of pornographic and erotic art that debases women, objectifies them. In taking my own nude pictures, I actively come out against this sort of art. Our beauty is ours and ours alone. When we photograph ourselves, we claim ourselves.
