They really did go out of the house dressed like that. Into the woods go these ladies to maximize their chance to document their 'artwork'. With such a supportive director, Effy's got her work cut out for her. Perhaps all ISM artists need their own personal cheerleader.

Del has really begun to create some spectrum in her ISM work. She's gone from girly glam to raggedy rapscallion, and we expect she'll go back again at least once or twice more. But no matter what sort of image she chooses to present, it's always done with skill and singularity.

It's a provocative colour, one often used thematically by ISM Artists, but Geri's take on it is uniquely hers. Red has heat and passion. It's as inviting as it is a warning sign, and we're unsure whether to dive right in or stay at a distance from Geri's red moods.

Is she putting it on, or is this who she really is? We really can't tell. Raiko very well could be as angelic as all this, or maybe she just likes the contrast between this persona and the one she wears in the everyday. She's not giving us any hints either way...which only makes us more curious.

We can't imagine being the only ones to have difficulty placing the name to the face (or is it the face to the name?). This lady does not exactly look as sinister as her moniker suggests. Which makes us fear her even more when we think of the things she could get away with, smiling so sweetly like that.

As someone who is always pushing the definition of 'extreme', Gina_Cherie has produced some of the most explicit and provocative work you'll see on ISM. And she does it with class. There is something both garish and beautiful about this set, and that repel / attract duality is just about the most thorough headfuck we could ask for.

Kippey has an eye for colour and shape, and is immersed in creating the perfect scene for herself - but I suppose anyone born in the gift shop of the Tate Modern would have a strong aesthetic sensibility, yeah? An ambitious debut, one that makes very intentional use of the frame, with the occasional bit of excess creeping in at the edges...
