New Releases

Jan 28, 2011 bilinda//"centrestage"
Sometimes a girl needs to be the center of her own attention, and what better way than to be both admirer and admired as you take your own photos? Bilinda takes the whole process to a new level, preparing her perfect stage on which to star in any way she sees fit.
What a heartthrob. Ziggy Wahwah has a way with the flicking of cigarettes and the draping of leather jackets over shoulders that screams James Dean, and a way with stockings and garters and bedroom eyes that evokes Bette Davis. What an interesting lovechild to have made of oneself...
Jan 27, 2011 marachan//"harajuku"
Ogenki desu ka? This perky fashionista may not be Japanese, but she definitely knows how to pull off that eye-poppin' Harajuku style. Marachan gets everything she can out of her camera with this set, embellishing her couture with colors we haven't seen since kindergarten, and topping it all off with the perfect coquettish little grin. Hai!
There's never-ending possibility in a train of pearls. Kloe's got access to all sorts of fine things - pearls and diamonds, fancy booze, the works - but the simplicity and elegance of her long strand of pearls is the most versatile and satisfying to play with.
Zizoo's "Artscape" is a tight little film jammed to the brim with strong, strange emotion and eerie allusions, a metaphorical place where each viewer is privy to a different subjective experience. Do yourself a favor and don't stop watching before the end...
You know that feeling of awe you get when you first lay your eyes upon a spectacular landscape - that elated but humbling shortness of breath, that wonder at the world's vastness? That's what you get when you enter Jennifer's debut, and it's at least as much to do with her as it is with that red sand and those blue mountains.
Jan 25, 2011 emelie//"smaragd"
Emelie captures herself on one of those emerald-and-sapphire days where the sky is crystal clear and the sun's brightness brings a surreal quality to the atmosphere. The sort of day where you walk out the door in the morning and think 'life is good'.
Jan 25, 2011 orchid//"petalperfect"
Orchid's obsession with botanicals is the defining characteristic of her debut, as she gives us a sense of the sorts of petals she's pulled towards. You'll be a bit more inclined to stop and smell the flowers after this reminder of their peculiar beauty.
Surely there are health code restrictions that make this unacceptable workplace behaviour, but the last thing on Pusscat's mind at the moment is having her Food Safety Certificate revoked. She's much too busy making sure the frosting is perfectly...spreadable.
Our Lily_Lilu is a smart girl - she's clued in to the irresistible power of the rainbow, and she knows just how to use it. Combined with her own fresh, healthy grace and good looks, those little multicolored dabs guarantee that this folio will get a smile out of even the most cranky observer.
An afternoon spent with your bestie with all of the sidewalk chalk and hula hoops you can find brings back some great memories for those of us who grew up under the influence of girliness. That rope, however, is definitely a more adult incarnation of girlplay.
Jan 23, 2011 junglesheila//"flashy"
Junglesheila had us at 'high-waisted gold lamé hot pants'. You can't go around wearing things like that unless you're prepared to be adored. Now, of course there's much more to this folio than sparkly stretchy pants, but it's going to take you a few tries to look beyond them for the rest of this lady's substantial substance.
Jan 22, 2011 dwam//"saturee"
Dwam is a maker of magic. She began to set the mood for today's folio in her video 'bleu', but these still images have given us a much more complete picture of her ability to create in multiple media. She connects with her body as an instrumental part of her creations.
Jan 22, 2011 kate_d//"lipsmacking"
If you're going to use your lipstick as an art supply, it's best not to use the expensive stuff. But Kate D wanted only the best for her great exhibition, and she figured that one day of fame was more valuable than 300 nights out on the town, so she spared no expense on that tube of colour.
Deabeele roams the streets of Santiago, acting as tour guide / exhibition artist for the day. Most of us will never see those snow-capped mountains beyond the skyline, and we're almost convinced that her style of showing us is better than seeing it in person.
